PARAMETERS
PROBLEM:
Create a printable PDF version of the interactive e-book / e-magazine file.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
The audience for this magazine project appeals to a very broad audience of all ages, who love dogs. The readers could be of varied ages from children to seniors, & of many ethical, financial, or educational backgrounds.
CONSTRAINTS:
Turn around time for project was roughly three weeks.
TASKS:
Initial audience & content analysis, analysis of both portrait & landscape versions of magazine spreads for print PDF verion in Adobe InDesign (shown are the portrait design spreads), to eventually be adapted to interactive e-book pages (also in Adobe InDesign). Analysis of all stock imagery (Adobe Photoshop), & illustrated dog ad (Adobe Illustrator & Adobe InDesign) was completed & assembled for the 8.5" x 11" printable page or 17' x 11' spreads, via Adobe InDesign.
DESIGN RATIONALE:
Since this project started with the e-book print magazine version & adapted into the e-book interactive file wherever possible to keep the uniformity to the projects. The hues chosen were selected to compliment the cover imagery in warm, earthy families to keep the piece relevant to the subject matter & concept for the Fall version of the magazine.
SPECIFICATIONS
The copy for this project was created from actual articles in the Paw Print Magazine Special Edition 2022 (Why We Love Dogs) magazine dated December 2022. The color family was selected to coordinate with the imagery selected for the project cover, as well as incorporating the colors of fall, for a down-to-the-earth feel. The font family Poppins was chosen for its cleanliness & ability to feature several weights for emphasizing. Font family Fonseca was chosen for titles for its fancier feeling, yet also clean lines. An image library was assembled by artist choice from Freepik Premium Plan for its brand-defining character. Mock-ups were created as necessary in Adobe Photoshop.
